Gargi College Admission Info

APPLICATION INFORMATION:
To make the admission procedure hassle free, Delhi University introduced common admission form for its colleges sometime back. Gargi accepts the same provided that you submit a proof of its submission within the decided time frame. Based on the college criteria, if a student is declared eligible to Gargi then she is required to fill the college admission form and submit the same alongside a photocopy of the common admission form. Instead of the common admission form, the student also has a choice to buy the college admission form from the college premises itself.

PREREQUISITES:
The student is expected to fulfil the following requirements:
  1. She must have passed the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) or an equivalent.
  2. The calculated aggregate for admission must include English with other three elective subjects.
  3. She should not have been convicted of any moral offenses. In the event of such a case, the student's application will not be considered until a period of two years has not been elapsed from the date of expiry of the imposed sentence.
  4. The following subjects will call for negative weightage:

Out of the following, only one of these subjects can be included while calculating the best of four aggregate:
  • Engineering Drawing
  • Home Science
  • Fine Arts
  • Agriculture
  • Physical Education
  • Music
  • Dance.
4% will be deducted from the best of four aggregate calculated with the inclusion of one of the above listed subjects.
For honours in humanities stream and B.Com Honours: Vocational subjects cannot be included in the best of four aggregate.
For B.A. (Prog): One vocational subject OR one of the above listed subjects can be included while calculating the best of four aggregate. However, both will attract a negative 4% weightage.
For B.Com (Hons): Students applying for B.Com must have studied Mathematics in Class XII. However, it is not necessary to include Mathematics in the best of four aggregate. Those from the Commerce stream can include the following subjects in their best of four aggregate:
  • Economics
  • Mathematics
  • Accountancy
  • Business Studies
  • Computer Science
  • Informatics Practices.
All other streams will have higher cut offs for eligibility.

ADMISSION THROUGH THE SPORTS QUOTA:
  • Admission will be awarded only after the sports trial and the interview.
  • The student must produce originals of all certificates relating to the sport in consideration. The certificates must be attested by the Principal of the school along with the issuing authority.
  • Certificates of only the last three years will be taken into consideration.
  • If selected, the student will have to present a Medical Fitness Certificate from a well reputed hospital.

ADMISSION THROUGH THE EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES QUOTA:
  • Admission will be awarded only after selection trials and interview.
  • The students will be considered only if they have had training, active participation and have been successful in the said field.
  • The student must produce originals of all certificates before the selection committee. The certificates must be attested by the Principal of the school along with the issuing authority.
DOCUMENTS REQUIRED:
The originals of the following documents have to be submitted along with self-attested copies of the same:
  1. Birth Certificate (Class X Marksheet).
  2. Certificate of the last examination passed.
  3. Marksheet of the last examination passed.
  4. Character Certificate from the school/college last attended.
  5. College leaving/Migration Certificate wherever necessary.
  6. Certificate of having passed the lower Hindi test (if exemption from compulsory test in Hindi is sought).
  7. Relevant Caste certificate, Disability certificate and from Armed Forces, whichever applicable, in case admission is sought in reserved category.
  8. Medical Fitness and Participation Certificates for admission on sports basis.
  9. Participation Certificates for Extra-Curricular Activities for admission on ECA quota.
  10. Stamp-sized photographs.

If false certificates are detected, the student will have to face criminal proceedings.
Students, who are unable to produce these documents, because their university has not issued them, will be awarded provisional admission and will be required to produce the originals in due course of time.

IMPORTANT DATES:
Last year, the sale and receipt of the application forms started on the 2nd of June with the last date being 16th June. The first cut off list was declared on 26th of June and admission and payment of fees was carried on from the 27th to the 29th of June. The second cut off list was out by the 1st of July and based on that, the admission and payment was carried out between the 2nd and 4th of July. Third list (if any) is announced on the 5thJuly and the admission procedures take place between the 6th and the 7th of July. Classes start on the 16th of July.
