The College Of Vocational Studies was founded in 1972. The aim of the college has been to increase opportunities and human expertise in varied fields of the professional world. The college seeks to answer the existing gap between academics and work. The college is first ever an institution where traditional education meets the evolving environment. The institute offers a wide range of vocational courses to develop a professional caliber for specific fields with an inter- disciplinary approach to skill acquisition and advancing of one's knowledge.
Location-located in Sheikh Sarai, the college is at the heart of the city- C.P. and is connected through Delhi Metro.
The college library is fully computerized with a big collection of books. The air conditioned library has three sections- reference section, a general section and a text book section which provide easy accessibility to books and journal for research and reading. The college also has subscription to various newspapers, magazines and periodicals.
The college has many open societies where a students with interest in that are can seek membership these include- the English and Hindi Debating Societies, the Cultural Society, the National Service Scheme, NCC and the Hiking and Adventure Club. Beside these societies, the college also has associations open for students of the respective departments or courses. They include, Commerce Association, History Society, Political Science Association, Hindi Sahitya Parishad, economics society, Punjabi Society, Foreign Students Association. The college also encourages student to participate in the college disciplining and planning through the Students Union and Planning Forum.
The college has many scholarship programs to support the students holding meritorious positions in their studies. The four specific scholarship programs that are central to te college are- C.V.S. Teacher's Scholarship, Miss Ametoj Bali Scholarship, Vidyasha Scholasrhips and All India Entrance Scholarships.
The college has it own placement cell. The cell is active in arranging seminars and workshops supported by many leading companies to train and educate students about the trends and demands of various service sectors.
The college canteen works under supervision Canteen Committee to provide wholesome meals. The specious canteen is forever brimming with students who enjoy the sumptuous meals in the company of friends between lectures and classes.
The college has a well equipped medical room to meet student emergencies and to provide care for sick students. the college also makes it compulsory for all students to go for annual medical check ups here.

For admission in the college a candidate is expected to have passed Senior School Certificate Examination (Class 12) of CBSE or any equivalent recognized examination. The candidate must have passed in four subjects (one language and three elective subjects) as best four subjects.
The college Prospectus and admission forms are available between 10.00 a.m. and 1.00 p.m. starting 1st June till 15th June. After the release of cut off lists the candidates are required to check the admission list posted on the College Notice board and are expected to fill up Provisional Admission Form along with original documents and fees.
